• Ann Arbor city planning inventory identifies 37 "valuable sites" containing natural features that should be protected 

1988-9

• Ann Arbor City Council release guidelines to limit development and pollution near these sites, but with no enforcement mechanism 

1992

• Natural Features Ordinance Committee add new regulations after Ecology Center recommendations

1994

• Traverse City passes farmland PDR ordinance 

1998

• Proposal 1 is proposed by the Ecology Center and fails after developer opposition 

1999

• Ann Arbor open space acquisition proposal passes 

2000

• Washtenaw county natural areas land millage proposal passes 

2003

• Greenbelt Proposal passes 

2004

• Scio township passes land preservation tax

2005

• Webster township passes land preservation tax
